An educational facility in U.S., with campus area of 700 acres, distributes power and functions as a local municipal utility to over 1,000 campus customers, the city and county. They undertook an underground distribution expansion project with the goal of improving their system reliability.
In the first phase of the project, Canada Power Products supplied approximately 40 mutli-ways SF6 insolated loadbreak switches and vacuum interrupters. They are controlled by SEL 315 and SEL 451 relays equipped with Mirrored Bit® for peer to peer communication in a closed loop system. Communication between devices is through high speed fiber-optic cable to achieve a 6-cycles fault detection and isolation requirement.
As part of the overall automation package, we worked with our business partner, Survalent Technology, to supply a turnkey redundant SCADA Master Station.
