IED is an intelligent electronic device that provides data acquisition and control functionality for the master SCADA system via a communication network. It equipped with input channels for sensing or metering, output channels for control, indication or alarms and a communications port. Many of the functionalities are imbedded in the controller or relay that Canada Power Products provides. Separate stand alone IED can be provided on an as needed basis.
