Plant Manager
The Plant Manager will be responsible for planning and directing all activities of our manufacturing facility. This critical role is responsible for achieving the safety, quality, cost, and delivery objectives of the facility
Responsibilities
• Drive manufacturing team toward execution of business goals using Lean manufacturing methodology
• Lead and mentor a manufacturing workforce consisting of two supervisors, 20 hourly employees with $30m in sales.
• Ensure the quality and timely manufacture and delivery of customer orders
• Promote a working environment that encourages employee involvement to achieve excellence in productivity, customer service and quality
• Responsible for profit and loss statement analysis of manufacturing variances
• Insuring coordination and cooperation between departments to meet plant and company objectives.
• Assists in creation and compliance of the plant's annual budget.
• Involved in the solution of operational and mechanical problems and the analysis for reoccurrence prevention.
• Sets plant priorities with the assistance of the COO.
• Confer with department heads to ensure coordination of purchasing, production, and shipping
• Institutes policies and controls for cost-cutting
• Involved in all manufacturing salary evaluations and adjustments.
• Involved with team member discipline to ensure consistency and policy compliance.
• Ensure compliance with Corporate Safety Policies and OHSA and ESA.
• Respond to and resolve plant emergencies.
• Assist in the planning and preparation for company growth.
• Involved in the scheduling of all production.
• Addresses all team members in open communication forum
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Proven record of initiative, problem solving and the ability to recognize and implement improvements.
• Experience working with customized engineered products
• Strong team player.
• Strong problem solving skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within and across departments and the company to support organization strategies.
• Ability to maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skill necessary for the performance of all assigned responsibilities.
• Ability to teach others and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
• Superior coaching and communication skills
• Fluent in both written and spoken English
Education/Experience
• 10+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience in the power equipment industry, ideal.
• 3-5 years experience in low volume/high mix, engineered and built to order manufacturing environment
• 1- 2 years moulding experience
• 3-5 years manufacturing or product design experience preferred
• Extensive knowledge and leadership in the principles and practice of Lean, Six Sigma, 5P and/or other continuous improvement models; participated in related improvement projects
• ERP implementation experience
